URDU POETRY
Being a Pakistani Urdu language is our mother language and is also spoken in many other countries around the subcontinent. The Urdu language has a lavish tradition of Urdu poetry. It is an integral part of the customs of South Asian countries. Urdu language reached its peak during the British government and got the status of an official language. It is a beautiful way to express feelings.
It has many forums including Ghazal, Hamd, Manqabat, Marsiya, Naat, Masnavi, Nazm, Qasida, Qawali, Rubai and Tazkira. Urdu poetry is adored all over the subcontinent. Urdu literature is blessed with great poets, all of them gave splendid poetry of their time. Names of Mir Taqi Mir, Allama Iqbal, Mirza Ghalib, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Josh Malihabadi and Mir Anees, Perveen Shakir are highly regarded.
The great work of our poets took it to a next level. Work of the legendary poets has also been translated in many other languages. It has opened up the vast dimensions of poetic allure. In this modern world with the inception of the internet and social media, It is also found in roman Urdu or even in Hindi script.
Hoa ab jo Rabta to us ko bataon ga
Taira nah milna tairay chor janay sa Behtar hai
Mein kia kahon Us ka sath Kaisa hai
Wo eak shakhs pori Kainaat jiasa hay
Jitna Zyada Socho gay Utni Zyada aziat mein raho gay
Ya to apnay ap ko mazboot kar lo, Ya Masroof kar lo…
Kar in ka addab, rakh enhain seenay say laga kar
Yeh dard, Yeh tanhayen mehmaan hain Mohsin…
Mila tha koi, Aur phirr Bichar gya
Ik lamha aya tha aur phir guzzar gya.
Mudattat hoi hay Yaar ki ai Nahe khabar
Lagta hay keh Qasid Bhi Raqeebo sai ja mila
Mairay Apno nay Pal pal tora hay mujhay
Mairay rab nay har baar jora hay Mujhay
Apnay who hotay hain Jinain Dard ka ehsaas ho………..
Warna hal to rastay mein anay janay walay bhe poch laitay hain.
Hum waqt daikh kar yaar nahe badaltay
Hum yaar keh kehnay par waqt badal daitay hain
Nahe hota kisi taiyab sai is marz ka elaaj wasi
Ishaq laa elaaj hay buss Parhaiz kijya……….
Darr Lagta hay un logon say sahib
Jin Kay Dil me bhe Damagh hotay hain
Wo Kabhi darra he nahe mujh ko khonay say
Wo Kia afsos karay ga mairay nah honay say
Hum nend Kay zyada shaokeen to nahe Faraz
Kuch khaab nah daikhain to Guzara nahe hota
Chalo Acha HOA wo Kisi aur Ka ho gya
Khatam Hoi fikkar usay apna banany ki
Mein Kitna bhe be saloon hon
Bus teire awaz say poray Dil ki sakoon a jata hay
Wo Kitabo mein darj he nahe tha
Jo sekhaya sabaq zamanay nay
Wo morawat say mila to choka don ga gardan
Mairay dushman Ka koi waar khali nah jay
Mujh is Baar Milo gay to samjh jao gay
Kaisa hota hay Kisi shakhs Ka pathar hona
Yonhe omeed dilatay Hain zamanay walay
Kab laot Kar atay Hain janay walay
Mohabbat Kar saktay ho to khuda say karo Faraz
Mitti Kay khilono say Kabhi wafa nahe milti
Azaab Dansh e Hazar say ba khabar hon mein
Keh mein is aag me dala gya hon misal e Khalil
Human to un ki sadgi lay doobi
Hussan Kia hota hay maira khuda janay
Ab Jo bichray to shaid kabi khabon mein milain
Jis tarha sokhay HOA khaab kitabon mein milain
Hum to dard lai Kar bhe had kartay hain
Log dard day Kar bhi bhool jatay hain
Kabi Arsh par Kabi Farsh Par, Kabi Is Kay Dar Kabi Dar Ba Darrr
Gham e Ashqi Taira Shukria Me Kaha kaha Sa Guzar Gaya……..
Parda Ankhon sa hatanay main Bahot Dair Lagi
Humain Dunya nazar anay mein bahot Dair Lagi
Nazar Aata hay jo, Waisa Nahe Hota Koi Shakhs
Khud ko ye baat batanay mien Bahot Dair Laggi
Jiss ki Tahbeer he Nahe Mumkin
Aysay kush khaab ham bhe rakhtay hain
Yeh to Zarf Zarf ki bat hay
Koi Seh gya Koi Keh Gya
Mehrban ho kay Bola lo mujhay Chahay Jis wakt
Mien Gya wakt Nahe hon K phir Aa nah sakon…
Darkanain Aksar Rukk si jati hain….
Nah Janay Dil Kis ki Muthi Mien hay
Koi Taweez Aisa do keh mien Chalaak ho Jaon
Bahot Nuksaan Daiti hay mujhay yeh sadgi mere
Jis ko bhe Khabar Mili Us nay Yehi Gilla kya…………….
Kion Kar li Muhabat Tum nay, Tum to samajhdaar thay
Sabbar karnay Pa aon to mur kay nah Daikho
Tum nay daikha He Nahe Maira Pathar Hona…
Basically, Urdu poetry is a performative composition, as held in Mushairas. Mushairas are held cosmopolitical because of cultural inspiration of the South Asian countries. It reflects the culture of our country. The great work of our poets took it to a next level. Work of the legendary poets has also been translated in many other languages.
